Companies use that data for all sorts of shady shit. What if the Ancestry site starts telling employers, "For a small fee, we'll tell you which applicants are predisposed to various medical conditions and thus will cost you a lot in healthcare costs." Do you think they would turn that down? And that's only one small example of how your DNA can be abused.

He's not objecting to learning your heritage, just that under current rules if you do a DNA test, the company that you paid to do the test will basically own your dna, to resell to whoever, etc. Basically Figure out your heritage another way until there is a better dna test option available to you
