Attentionwhoring became epidemic because Facebook and the ability to instantly get likes from people you probably never saw face-to-face created a culture of instant gratification. People develop an entirely unwarranted sense of self-importance, and easily grow frustrated if those around them show no interest in how supposedly special and unique they are.

There is nothing to talk about in person because you already saw everything on shitbook.
Delete shitbook and actually talk to your friends.

I thought about this. It's kind of annoying how it works like that. I noticed recently that by not using facebook, I get to have more interesting conversations with people. They give me the summary of what's happened over that period of time and it's just better that way.
Some people, but far less than the past, have given me that shitty attitude when I tell them I've never used facebook, and I've found the best way to react to that is to ignore them and continue as I was.

treating you like an outcast because you don't broadcast your life.
from their side it's possible they are thinking you are weird or hiding something or a crazy person. and they wouldn;t want to associate with a crazy person.
however the people that are curious as to why are alreay more interesting to talk to since they havent stereotyped you instantly.

People call facebook fakebook because most people only post positive aspects of their lives or even non-existent aspects of their lives (I.e. a fat person angling their user photo to make them look 50lbs lighter or someone standing in front of a sports car that isn't theirs).
Millions of accounts on fakebook were found to be bots. Fakebook detracts from real life.

When I first saw myspace I knew people were going to try and use it to fuck with people and "make them jealous". I steered clear of it, but everyone else just couldn't fucking step away. It soaked up unrealistic amounts of people's lives. I'm wondering what it was like for people who actually used it. What did they see change around them?
