I hadn't considered a multi-tool but I will keep it in mind while I look. Thanks.

Part of my EDC, it's a solid reliable knife that feels great in your hand.

Weapon of last resort, tool, plus I like collecting bladed weapons and it's been awhile since I acquired a new one.

Leatherman wave is a great multi tool that can be a quick opening knife with practice and oil. Svord peasant knife is a great little knife. The handle is cheap but strong plastic, too the metal of the blade is strong enough to batton with. Great to take camping for fire making a can be opened 1handed.

Kershaw or spyderco for pocket knives. Waffentechnik is what I have for a fixed blade in my kit, I used to carry two. One as a bayonet and the other as a combat knife but as I moved into a more leadership oriented position they started to frown upon the bayonet part. Used to like Gerber and Ka-Bar but their stuff is just garbage now. Also I don't know why people are suggesting a multi-tool when you're asking about a pocket knife. They aren't the same thing.

Because a multitool covers a good pocket knife and more. A defensive knife is nice, but limited in use. I only want to carry so much, a multi covers most of what id want in a daily carry. Except of course a weapon, most multi knives would make terrible weapons. So it comes down to do you want a tool or a weapon. Id rather carry a multi and a gun than just a knife.

I've yet to see a multitool with a decent knife on it.

from the wikipedia for pocketknife If it's a knife that folds up and fits in your pocket it's a pocket knife. no need to be a fag about it, dude.

Perhaps the fault is in my wording of the question.

The multi tool knives are still shit though.

Thank you for a thorough response. I, too, was slightly confused about the multi-tool responses. Also I agree with the Gerber sentiment. I have one and while it's ok, you can tell they kinda just said meh to quality control.

Smith & Wesson brand knives are.excellent in quality and Big 5 often has them one sale for less than 20 bucks.

I mostly use pocket knives for cutting up apples, cutting plastic tags off stuff I bought, opening packaging that sort of thing. Got a swiss army knife for that, good enough. Then I have a spare cheap one that goes it your wallet like this shit https://images.knifecenter.com/knifecenter/marfione/images/MCKASSAILANTAPOCn.jpg

multitools are waaay too bulky unless you wear cargo pants or some shit, so I don't bother.

If I am taking the bus/ going anywhere where my chance of getting mugged is more than 0% I carry a modified folding knife for stabby stabby. But my primary self defense is the fact I can run away fast.

Benchmade Griptillian. Just meat and potatoes but a well made knife. Will last forever and stand up to any use.

That said I carry a Leatherman skeletool and a Ganzo Firebird because I have a tendency to lose my knives and it's easier to replace a $30 knife.
