Many parts of Northern Europe were nowhere near as civilized as Greece was 2000 years ago. Therefore, Greece's culture is both different and, in many ways, more ancient than culture in the north

I never implied that culture is a measurement of civilization. That would be a ridiculous statement. Culture is, however, the result of civilization. The fact that in Greece there are many more buildings, texts, plays and other cultural elements which date back to over 2000 years ago, makes their culture different from areas where there are far fewer ancient influences on culture.
