Been homeless for about a month. Been changing clothes normally and I clean myself with adult wipes, but have not had a shower and have been out in the desert. I have been eating fairly healthy and also I am very good at interpreting body language and emotional response in people and nobody has given me the stink eye. (Oh wow I just realized the etymology of that phrase!)
In past experience I have found I stink the worst about 3 days after a shower, but then things kind of go into homeostasis. Or I just get used to ky own funk.
Not sure what to believe. Gonna jump into a river at first opportunity.

Get a bottle of rubbing alcohol. Prioritize shaving your armpits. Wipe with rubbing alcohol when you get sweaty.
For mouth, purchase small baking soda and peroxide. Use finger to rub baking soda into teeth. Gargle peroxide to help keep cavities at bay.
For hair, just brush it to distribute the oil and it shouldn't get too yucky. If you can get some lavender oil, it smells nice and keeps critters at bay.
Save adult wipes for your naughty bits.
Few hours of scavenging recycles should get you enough to make do.
Take time to air any clothing you have in the sun. Sun kills odor and parasites.
Good luck out there, fam.

Old smoke plus body odor is worse than body odor.
Also, be careful with the alcohol, because it can dry you out too much. Also with the hydrogen peroxide, because it will damage the skin in your mouth over time (dilute it, and don't use it every day unless you have an infection).
Citrus zest is a cheap source of antimicrobial and deodorizing essential oils.

Smoke a cigarette. If they complain more about the cigarette smell you are good.

What are "adult wipes"?

Stink is relative. Yes you stink, but if you're changing into clean clothes once or twice a day, you likely may not reek. Just be careful about raising your arms around people, lol! It's still possible to reek if you change your clothes frequently, so be sure to drink plenty of water and keep changing those clothes.
