Statistically, you'll meet a serial killer during your lifetime.

That definitely isn't true everywhere, and I seriously doubt that it's true anywhere. Murder is quite uncommon itself, and serial killing is extremely uncommon.

Even meeting a future murderer seems like a long shot for most people.

Also, I don't believe you understand how statistics are done. Statistically, x will happen? So the probably is 1? In that case, it's hard to see how this could be a statistical conclusion - statistics is a branch of math used to consider the likelihood of uncertain events. Your claim is self-contradictory.

So where's the math?

While I completely agree his claim doesn't pass my smell test I think you are being a bit obtuse on the second part.

I'd say most people would understand "statistically" to mean "You are more likely than not". So assuming the chance of living your life and meeting a serial killer is greater than not.

The gauntlet has been thrown down, /u/Alias_Unknown can you bring up the statistics and do the math?

Well, think about how many people you meet.
