Yes. Easy labels are always over used as if they count as a counter argument.

Yep. There's a lingering paranoia in some users. They dismiss any dissent as paid counter-influence.

It's also remarkable that even if there are shills here, they think it's exclusively from their ideological opposites. As if the far-right or pro-Russians would never do such a thing.

I think it's mostly due to the far-right (main ideology here) don't have the funds for such a thing whilst their ideological opposites do.

You can use SaneGoatIswear, it means exactly the same.

Absolutely, and there are plenty more names that are completely overused as well.

Yeah, that's another one.

I actually like the cuckolds that I've met. I've even liked a couple of their wives on occasion. The insult doesn't really fit, but it is funny if you know any actual cuckolds.

It may just feel overused because instead of having a boy who cried wolf, we have some spammer who always cried "SHILL".

At this point it is overused. That being said, Voat and Reddit did have a problem with shilling during the election. The word is overused though, and allows people to be intellectually lazy with their arguments. Calling someone a shill doesn't say anything about the validity of their argument, even when they are a shill. Just because someone is paid to say something, doesn't mean that what they are saying is false. If there was anything to take away from the clusterfuck that the US just went through/is still going through, it's that even a broken clock is right twice a day.

for months it was excessive, but the last few weeks I've seen it used a lot less. I think a handful of users found it cool and trendy, thought they'd acquire ccp but it back fired when we all become annoyed with it and started giving negative ccp when someone uses the term without reason.

It's not overused. There are Shareblue shills working on here right now to shill for the anti-Trump Lugenpresse. Some of them have been dumb enough to post links to Shareblue and one admitted he was getting paid.
