Yes, I can google "how to blog". I'm interested in what folks here think.
I have a wordpress site that I built on my own server, but it is for uncontroversial non-political topics. I have some ideas for topics to write on over the next couple of months -- political related (over-saturated I know) but more philosophical, legal, and newsy than that. Something like popehat but with a less sophisticated audience. I would call it "Think Differently" if it would not cause trademark trouble so my working titles are "Practical Reality" which is not catchy enough or "Libertas Cum Passae" which is too esoteric. The goal is just to have an outlet, but because of my background I seem to have a different perspective than other bloggers so I would like to get some attention and at least make a dent in the public discourse if I could. I don't expect to become famous.
- How should I pick a platform? Is Wordpress still the way to go? Disqus? Something else?
- Where can I find an audience? Here and Gab are the only places I can think of. Facebook is not an option right now. I don't have a Twitter account but I'm open to creating one. Voat isn't ideal due to doxxing concerns plus I don't want to spam.
- Should I use a pen name? Why?
Hopefully I am thinking about all of the right things. I'll take whatever advice I can get (except for "You're too stupid to blog," which is false -- nobody is too stupid to blog.)
