Similar situation here. I approve of some of his plans (tax reduction, elimination of regulations etc...) but some of his policies are downright idiotic (The Wall) or scary (He seems even worse on privacy/surveillance than Obama who was even worse than Bush).

It was great fun watching Clinton lose though as there would have been almost no redeemable qualities of another Clinton presidency (besides the lols to be had from Bill being back in the WH)

Given how willing Mexican border crossers have already been willing to use tunnels, trebuchets, and bodies of water to get people and goods across the border I don't think a physical wall across the southern border is a worthwhile investment for how much it will cost.

Yes there are numerous border walls across the globe but do any cover a span the size of the mexican border?

Best I can tell Trump wants a wall because a wall because it is a lasting legacy in a monumental form that must be physically torn down. That and it plays really well with the base.

Most illegals come from legal work visas

I don't think the wall is idiotic, but I'm worried about the impact on the fauna. When contact information becomes available for the engineers, I'll be sure to inundate them with information about wildlife crossings and other ecological resources they can implement to reduce the stress on the already struggling wildlife populations. Other than that, I don't give a fuck if he walls off the entire country.

Aren't the majority of illegals visa over stayers? No wall keeps the planes out.

If you read the art of the deal, you'll begin to understand his radical policies. By taking extreme positions, he can use those positions to force a compromise that is closer to his actual goal. Roll with it. He's no where near as crazy as you'd think.

I've not read the art of the deal yet, but I absolutely have recognized his door in the face tactic. Seems to be his goto strategy.

In a nutshell, ignore what Trump says and look at what he does, because his words are merely a strategy to achieve a particular action (which might not be what you'd expect based on the words). This is what most stood out about him the whole time, not his words but his way of achieving things despite the barriers, and his strong desire to expel the useless accumulation that's not contributing to things.

I haven't read Art of the Deal but it's basic pivot-setting. Same reason you walk into a supermarket and milk isn't $1.70/litre, it's $2.50/litre REDUCED TO $1.70/litre OMG SAVINGS.

Not American.

Saint Mattis, Warrior Monk, Chaos, Mad Dog, is a beacon of hope for anyone in NATO, or even just in joint operations with the US.

Yes, net neutrality and the environment are topics I side with the left on. However, there is a certain level of bullshit that has been festering with regulation, and different lobbies being able to enact their power through legislation worldwide. TPP/TITP needed to die. Trump did this. Trump is terrible when it comes to privacy/encryption/technology. However, Clinton was as bad or possibly worse. I think tax funded healthcare does more good then ill, does actually require stringent immigration policies, but somehow Obamacare took the worst of both private and public models.

Moving on to the salt. Holy shit. A politician is moving on his word, and tackling controversial topics that they promised during campaigning. Actual momentum against the EU. Left leaning individuals protesting for a religion that makes Catholicism look progressive, and modern, as well as corporate interests globally in lieu of national interests.

Then again, my main understanding of the Wall gets summarised by this rant.

I think he will hire friends (already proven) to make more money. He will treat America like a business (sort of okay with). He will ignore science to push business profit. He is a little in over his head having never been in politics. But the fact that he doesn't give a fuck what the average voter thinks about him, gives him my approval. I don't care if he burns the mother fucker down, or if his policies help us rebuild our failing economy, I want to see the end result. And I'm SUPER excited for more non-politicians to run for office soon. This has opened the flood gate. He is an idiot in some respects, and great in others. And though morons think he is 20 moves ahead(he's not), it's fun to watch his rudimentary understanding of world politics drive his agenda.

He literally tweeted climate change was a Chinese hoax. I 100% understand that our climate changes all the time, but to tweet that you think it's a Chinese hoax is absurd. It may be natural. It may be man made. It may be scientist not wanting to lose that sweet grant money. But it's 100000000% not some Chinese hoax.

What's his policy on science? I hope you aren't referring to the fake "global warming" crap - that is a media invention, there's nothing "scientific" about it.

Despite my shitposting to the contrary, I am absolutely not a fan of Trump. His support for domestic spying, his wavering on 2nd Amendment rights during the debates, and his support for jailing Snowden are all dealbreakers for me. I think he's a narcissistic asshole to boot, and the reason he won is because the DNC managed to run the one person who was actually a worse candidate. I REFUSED to vote for Clinton, and I couldn't bring myself to vote for Trump, either.

BUT... That being said, I'm giving him a chance and hope he does good things for our country. So far that seems to be the case, so I remain cautiously optimistic. As to the the never-ending flow of salt from the left at the mere mention of his name... It sends me into fits of laughter each time it happens.

tl;dr - The Trump Train may derail and blow up in our faces, but until/unless it does, CHOO CHOO, motherfuckers!
