Omicronians - Their offspring are tasty and they have a thing for 20th century TV and destroying the Earth. A very complex race.

I think it was Hienlien who wrote a book where humans landed on a new planet and met these interesting aliens who we got along with quite well. But it turned out that we had only met the domesticated pets of the main life forms of the planet.Their version of a 'dog' was as our intellectual equal. When a few humans tried to meet the masters, seeing them was too much for our human brains to comprehend and those who tried went mad.

That's some hard core, almost lovecraftian shit right there.

Pretty much every Lovecraft story.

You wouldn't happen to remember the name of the book, would you? I'd love to give it a read.

I finally found it. It's called "Methuselah's Children"

If you are just starting out with Robert Heinlein I greatly envy you. This book is a wonderful place to start because it introduces some things that he will continue to develop in his other works which I consider masterpieces of science fiction.

It's Methuselah's Children.

Edit: they're also briefly mentioned again in Time Enough for Love and in either Number of the Beast, The Cat Who Walks through Walls, or To Sail Beyond the Sunset. These later mentions are extremely brief though.

I would have liked them more if they weren't introduced as "Borg Killers". Simply making them powerful, non-humanoid lifeforms would have been enough. Not only did they make them more powerful than the Borg then they made them shape shifters. It was like playing superheros in elementary school with the kid that said his superpower was having all the superpowers.

I'm not a big fan of Voyager.

i kinda don't like how you spoil the surprise after the author worked so hard to ensure no spoilers.

I've always loved the Turians in Mass Effect. I also find them strangely attractive. :)

Turians are awesome! Garrus was my femshep's romance on my first ME playthrough, they were so adorable together. I think my favorite have to be the Quarians though, I find them fascinating and they have such a sad story.

So basically the planet from Avatar. Or that Southpark episode with the crabs on Angelina Jolie's vagina.

shit i think it is this planet, people just don't think they can, so they can't.

there is a very big truth here, you know the four minute mile was considered impossible, in fact people actually thought you'd die from doing it. then richard bannister did it, and within a month or so 4 more people did it. if that isn't simply a mental block i don't know what is.

then there is a book, called 'mind-reach' .. it was pulled off shelves by the cia. it was released, but apparently you should find the original (is not edited... ) anyway, in that book it discusses that we all have pscyhic ability but because we don't think we can, we don't. but they were able to get anyone to 'far-see' if they thought they might be able too!

there is more to this world and it isn't outerspace i think we should be interested in...

I really liked the Zhirrzh from Timothy Zahns Conquerors Trilogy. They are a race that uses ghosts to communicate and have ceramic space ships. Very well written alien race.
