And it's been bothering me for weeks now.
I thought I'd gotten it out by submerging my face in a pot of water and blinking a lot, but it seems to still be there. I've been waking up every day with crap in my eyes, and as the day progresses it gets worse, to the point where I'm rubbing it constantly after about twelve hours awake. It has been getting somewhat better - the first few days were terrible - but it's still annoying as hell.
I'm terrible at adulting, so I have no idea where I go to deal with this, in terms of health care (I'm in the US). Do I go to a normal hospital, do I schedule an appointment with an optometrist, do I just deal with it until it goes away (which was my initial plan, but at two weeks from onset of symptoms I'm not sure that's such a good idea at this point)?

Get to an eye doctor. My brother got something in his eye while spreading landscape bark. He rinsed it for several days and it just got worse. He went to an eye doctor who found a tiny sliver of metal.had gotten into his eyeball, and his efforts had worked the metal several layers deep. She removed it, and he had to wear a patch for two weeks. He was lucky, it wasn't certain his sight would be restored.
