“If you have unrelieved obstruction, there is a risk of ischemia [decrease in the blood supply] and that can be fatal,” warns Pasricha. Diagnosis of bowel obstruction is not difficult, says Pasricha. The diagnostic process will include: Description of symptoms.

The obstruction can begin choking off blood supply even before its ruptured the intestine. Causing necrosis and gangreen in the tissues. So in that case you would die of infection.

Or it would build up enough to rupture the colon or small intenstine. You die from internal bleeding. I would guesse that this is more likely.

are you force feeding this person? or do they stop eating once you start the blockage? Those are major factors.

from what I can tell. It can take longer than 2 weeks before you get to that point. Again I would imagine depends alot of diet. After a few days of constipation people experience a lack of apetite. Not suprising giving the massive amount of stomach pain that can result for severe constipation.

So if your force feeding some poor bastard? who know maybe they rupture in under a week? Just sewing someones asshole shut? Could take weeks before they get to a point of ischemia or a rupture.
