I haven't entirely given up on reddit, though my time there has been dramatically cut in favour of WhoaVerse. Some subreddits are just as good as they've always been and I can't turn my back on them. On the whole, however, the reddit leadership has lost my confidence.

That's pretty much the case for me as well. Some subreddits didn't change because of the system and I'm still browsing in them, but reddit overall isn't as addicting anymore and I don't even spend half my usual time there after finding whoaverse. For me, it's slowly dying.

Basically the same for me. I've only been returning to reddit this past year or so for a few niche subs and so this place will now fill my "general media" allotment that reddit used to be.

I don't want abandon good communities just yet because of some measly nerds at the tippy top of reddit who can't handle power. but if a decent sized replacement for those niche subs eventually grew here I'd just come here.

The simple answer is "no"

I bounce around to quite a few sites in the course of a day and allocating some of my time to here is not a big deal. I'm definitely spending way less time on Reddit than I did a week ago.

Which other sites would you recommend? Whoaverse is great and all, and the quality is definitely improving, but I don't find it quite as..robust?.. as Reddit yet.

I wouldn't. I don't like how most of reddit is controlled by the few; the "power users". That's the worst thing about reddit.

Yeah, that's right. I also hate everything is about karma on reddit. It certainly shouldn't be named karma here.

And yet you have submitted almost nothing. A news agregator is about content. And you should be happy with the users who like to provide it.

completely agree. the redditards treat it like it's worth millions of dollars. I like Imaginary Karma Points that's here. Keeps it in perspective that it is, in fact, not worth anything. Just imaginary.

would you please explain me more about the "power users"?

Some of us, people like me, like to share interesting articles we find. We tend to accumulate karma. Some people who want respect and control without doing any of the work, complain. They call us "power users". But I can tell you, a little credibility comes with the work, but no power. I have almost 600k on reddit and all it ever got me was that I could prove I wasn't a shill. Unlike these shills.

Unidan, way_fairer, etc. have lots of karma and many think they are right and do what they do.

You shill. You have spent all your time trying to control and manipulate Atko and that is what most of your submsisions are. You killed reddit and now are working on whoaverse.

A shill for whom?

wat. can't tell if you're serious. Most of my time at WV so far has been setting up my subs and posting to my subs?

In which way?

Do you mean people who moderate a bunch of subreddits? People who post a lot of comments? People who post a lot of articles?

How are you going to remove the latter two? The 1% rule has been around for a while and is rather well displayed online. It can't be helped that people will upvote stupid comments, and just having a few RSS feeds is enough to ensure a steady stream of link karma.

Beyond that, why do you think a similar situation of an elite few controlling the bigger places won't repeat itself here? After all, power collects in a few hands in real life as well...

No, for me reddit is over. The problems over there are entrenched and will not change.

I don't know! I just got here! So much pressure.

I suspect not as long as this site remained sufficiently active but not so active that it began to suffer from the same problems.

Hopefully it won't suffer at all!

I think there are only two long-term outcomes; obscurity or tragedy of the commons. There are no new ideas here to suggest a novel third outcome that has never happened before. From my perspective all I can hope for is exactly the right level of obscurity.

No. Initially I thought that I would divide my time equally between the two sites but within two days I found out that I was spending way more time here and loving it.

I still use Reddit for specialty subs but my main news source is now whoaverse.

I wouldn't leave whoaverse, but I might start using Reddit again if they explained truthfully the reasons behind their changes and what they're going to do to be more transparent.

I've lost faith in the admins of Reddit, and whoaverse feels like Reddit did a few years ago. All the power admins, and karmawhores have made the larger subreddits a toxic wasteland.

[–] alllie 2 points 4 points (+6|-2) ago

Where you have made one submission on whoaverse and have 3 points. Without karmawhores whoaverse will die. Just like karmawhores made reddit.

I'm very confused. You seem angry about something, but I'm not sure if it's the state Reddit is in now, the existence of Whoaverse, "karmawhores", shills?

What exactly are you trying to do or say here? I'm not upset or anything; I genuinely don't understand what you're trying to get across.

Even if they solve their problems, it is inevitable that they will screw up again. "Too big to fail" seems to be the admin's thinking right now.

Yeah, that's right. It's the same as with youtube's implemention of google+.. Everybody complained but nobody could manage not to use youtube anymore because it's just way too big.
