Its a really awesome gimmick with tons of potential. It will very likely be the next big thing. That said its not really worthwhile right now and gives you headaches.

This.

The 2nd generation of VR will be better because pretty much all 2nd generation things are better as they've had time to work out perceived bugs that were visible in the 1st generation, but the prototypes weren't tested enough to bring out.

Combine VR with an Omni directional treadmill, and you got a serious health benefit right there.

Soooo many people harp on how the vive doesn't give people head aches blah blah. Gave me one any weird things like that or 3D movies the 3ds 3D gives me a headache.

I got a VR capable card, but I don't see myself using it for a very long time. The technology is really cool, but the actual headsets are way more expensive than I would be willing to pay.

Wait until you see if the type of games you play will be designed specifically for VR. The game companies right now would love to do it, but it's a big bet to see if gamers embrace the tech. So, games have to be made for it even before there is a market or the market won't grow. The market won't grow if the games aren't made for it. I want a Vive, but I'm not paying good money to learn how to do jobs and start fires.

Oh I have no doubt gamers will embrace VR... I don't think any developers do either. The thing is, the technology needs to sort itself out. Trial and error until it's figured out which games are hits with VR (I have a suspicion a lot of these survival games as well as FPS games will be the most popular) and which are bombs. Then someone needs to come out with the Tesla Model 3 of VR, a cheap and practical daily driver for gamers that will tell oculus and vive to fuck right off with their price gouging.

That's what's needed to get VR started on the next stage I believe. I'm not sure what the next stage would be, I'm not that smart.

My normal metric is fairly simple. Look at the games out there and pretend that you had the hardware already, what would looks worth buying to you, is there at least enough to match the cost of the special hardware? if not don't get it if so it is something to think about. and no I don't expect that I would buy them all at once or that more won't come but you can only guess at the future so don't rely on that.

If cost is a worry to you, then get the PSVR, or just wait for a sale.

No, not worth the price.
