It might be an eventuality, but can we not do that quite yet?

I'm fine with that. If I want memes, I'll go back to reddit.

Every idea we are able to communicate to one another is a meme, or is composed of multiple memes.

I agree with this. It's impossible not to have memes.

It’s possible however, to develop a culture of dissecting, combining, and improving memes by rewarding original posts and comments, instead of a culture of repeating the most popular memes.

Semantics. On point, but you very well know what OP meant.

Not the person you replied to, but I don’t. What does OP mean by memes? Jokes? Puns? Copypasta? Image macros? Reaction gifs?

Any of those ideas or things that become popular will be repeated to some extent. When does a joke go from funny to bad meme? When it’s repeated past a magic number of times? When I’m bored of it? Someone else may be seeing it for the first time.

Also, the idea that memes are undesirable is itself not a new idea in this sub :)

Memes are an integral part of any society. Voat is no different.

You're on a platform where the quality (or at least visibility) of a post or comment is decided on a vote, everybody gets a vote. If memes become more visible it's because more people are liking them.

That's just the truth of a platform like this.

To clarify, I don't care much when people use memes to funpost but it could get overwhelming like the other site.

Why do you ask?

I personally do not like memes. Often times, uses of memes add nothing to a discussion.

No. Memes were the beginning of reddit turning into shit.

There is a v/adviceaimals and a v/memes. They aren't posted on so often so you don't see people using ducks to bitch about someone who wasn't nice to them that day, there hasn't yet been an abuse of memes.
