I don't think the male gender is real. There is no distinictive male wardrobe and there are no male only hobbies or interests.
Masculinity is seen as this whole other thing just like atheism is seen as this whole other religion. Masculinity like atheism is simpley not having a gender in my opinion. Just like atheism is just about denying the belief that the universe was created.
Neil Degrasse tyson sums up atheist as religion succinctly

It's odd that the word atheist even exists. I don't play golf. Is there a word for non-golf players? Do non-golf players gather and stragtegize? Do non-skiers have a word and come together and talk about the fact that they don't skii?
Religion to most people isn't about just about whether or not god exists. Their religion is typically heavily tied to how they view life as a whole. Its the same thing with women. With women being a women is part of their soul. I get the sense that if a women was born blind and deaf and was told all her life that she was a man she'd know somewhere in the back of her head that she's a women.
Whereas I doubt I'd be able to tell if I was a man in the same situation any better then this blind black racist from that david chappelle skit.Which causes society to simply believe like they do with atheists that men must also have this elaborate self identity that deeply entreached in what they do and how they think.

cross posting my response from your identical topic on /v/askvoat:
Highly disagree. We can use fashion as an easy external example - sure there are some clothes that are relatively gender neutral, but once you get past that you'll notice numerous aspects that make male clothes the antithesis of female clothes. Aesthetically things that are baggier, more utilitarian, or plain are seen as male traits. If it was interpreted as an expression you could say the clothes were strong, stoic, and powerful.
It isn't just the lack of femininity that makes something male - it's the antithesis of femininity.
