I'm really discouraged by the idiotic advice that "they type" of calories matter. Once I dropped that attitude and started looking at only calories, I found it easy to stay on track.
I mean, yeah, if you spend years getting calories from only fat and carbs, you will run into trouble. I skew healthy, anyway, and veggies are a great way to fill up with few calories.
The Twinkie diet professor experiment really should've put this discussion to rest.

Long term obesity is what causes VERY BIG problems. It would be very hard in the civilized world to suffer from malnutrition just from eating fewer calories.
Long story short- I stopped saying "I can't eat that casserole because it's 700 calories," and started saying "uh, oh, better budget 700 calories so I can eat that casserole." Lots of fat asses don't know when to stop, focusing on only calories helped me learn.

In the absence of carbohydrates, and sugars you body will literally switch to burning FAT(s) to do everything. Your body flicks a switch and you go from Glycogenesis, and begin Ketogenesis.
You literally eats fats ... 80% fat, 18% proteins, ~2% carbs (or less).
Bacon, butter, meats, eggs, whipping cream, avocados, steaks, and others as long as you eat according to that percentage above.
