(A) Encourage participation and activity

(B) Keep that participation thoughtful and civil

(C) State mod positions on issues ahead of time

All the recent drama about mods has left a bad taste in my mouth, as it seems everyone is too eager to jump down the mods' throats. People forget that without moderation, communities are quickly full of half-assed shit content and the subvoat declines because of shitposts.

I fully support rules like "Posts must include a question mark" because, come on. It's not that fuckin' hard, people.

In order to keep mod decisions fair and clear, make positions on things known ahead of time. Sidebar that shit. That way the users know exactly what's expected of them and things can stay civil.

(D) Encourage some tags, maybe?

Tags are helpful for a community. [Serious] could indicate people want particularly thoughtful discussion, a few subjects like [Science] [Politics] [General] and such would also be nice.

Thank you for the response! I like your idea about tags. They would give a quick idea about what the question will be about. If I become mod, and even if I don't, I really want to help build a good community here.

I particularly like the tag idea. I'd like to add that it would also be nice to see a [Voat] tag. Maybe it's a knee-jerk reaction from recent events, but I'll go as far as saying that I would support a rule or at least side bar comment to dissuade questions about Voat issues from this forum. (I think most of those types of questions can be asked more effectively in /v/voatusergroup, /v/ideasforvoat or /v/Voat.)
