89 would have been mildly interesting, 79 would have been interesting, 69 would have been prophetic, 59 would have made my balls drop, but 99? I had already had DSL for 2 years in by 1999, playing Quake 2 online. Yeah duh, they were going to figure out how to make the Internet more portable.

Dick Tracy had a TV watch. So in 99’ we were already waiting for a StarTrek device tricorder or watch device.

Yea.. DSL was actually common at that point. It was moving towards cable I believe. I remember there was one person I knew who still had dial up, and that was probably because their parents didn't understand the internet and the kids were just using MSN. Looking back my family was fairly bleeding edge. I still remember thinking that new 1ghz Pentium was a beast, I was so happy when I got that computer handed down..

Here's more of David Gerrold's predictions and warnings for the future, written this year:

That was a very interest read - thank you.

Humans might learn to interact with each other with the same expectations that they bring to their relationships with their robots.

This quote stuck with me. It was a lightbulb moment as to why I'm so insistent that people treat robots with respect and be polite and nice to them.

Although I think stuff like this disturbs me just because of potential of robot revolution, and because we won't know we have developed true AI(/artificial consciousness, if possible) until much after we actually have.

Watching a show called Humans on Prime. The show nails conscious humanoid robots pretty well.

I like AID, or artificial intelligence device. But retards are afraid of AI, so Ok, flatbread instead.
