Jonathan Reed's alien in the freezer

Aired: Dark Matter, 18 September 2013

Audio: YouTube, The Ultimate Art Bell Collection torrent

15 October 1996, Jonathan Reed discovers a hovering alien craft while hiking in the Pacific Northwest. He shoots an alien after it attacks his dog and, in a state of shock, transports the being's body to his home and attempts to preserve it in a metal meat freezer... without realizing it was still alive... until it starts knocking.

Video: Alien craft and body.

Image: Alien craft shown in video.

Image: Alien body shown in video.

Why it's cool: the entire experience was captured on video! Everything from the initial encounter with the hovering craft to Reed's initial investigation of the blinking alien body is captured on video and is profoundly convincing.

9/11 Aftermath ghost sightings (hosted by Dave Schrader)

Aired: Coast to Coast AM, 10 April 2015

Audio: YouTube

Frank Marra and Maria Bellina discuss eyewitness testimony from first responders and Emergency Services personnel about strange occurrences and sightings while conducting 9/11 clean-up operations at the Twin Towers site and at the landfill site.

Why it's cool: the reoccurring ghost sightings at the landfill site are creepy and the observations about the food cart vendors on the morning of the 9/11 terrorist attack are extremely strange. All of the stories are lent credibility because they are from trained Emergency Services personnel. This episode was also fascinating because it gave a unique insight into the 9/11 clean-up operations and the difficulties that the volunteers faced.

Mike "Madman" Marcum builds a time machine

Aired: Midnight in the Desert 4 September 2015

Audio: YouTube posts are being removed rapidly, but various torrents are available.

Audio of older interview: YouTube

Why it's cool: Marcum's claims are fascinating and capture the imagination as he describes his early experimentation with a Jacob's Ladder which seemingly resulted in time dilation, his larger experiments which compromised the Stanberry power grid, his imprisonment for stealing electrical transformers from the power company and his most recent warehouse sized, 3,000,000 volts super experimentation with live subjects including guinea pigs and a human subject.

George Carlin

Aired: Coast to Coast AM, 10 November 1999 (starts 0:48:00)

Audio: YouTube, The Ultimate Art Bell Collection torrent

George Carlin is an American stand-up comedian, social critic, actor, and author who is famous for his black comedy and his social and political commentary. Carlin has a relatively lighthearted discussion with Art about many topics including his hopes and disappointments with the human race.

Why it's cool: because George Carlin is a comedic genius and is made from pure awesome. If you're unfamiliar with Carlin (born 1937, died 2008) then I highly recommend listening to this interview... in my humble opinion.

Spiricom audio and hoax show (conversing with a ghost)

Spiricom audio originally aired: Ghost to Ghost 31 October 2004

Spiricom hoax show aired: Coast to Coast AM, 25 September 2009, second hour

Audio: YouTube, The Ultimate Art Bell Collection

Spiricom was a project conducted between the mid 1970's and the 1980's by George Meek and William O'Neil who claimed to produce electromagnetic white noise that can be modulated by the dead to produce more than the conventional disembodies Electronic Voice Phenomenon voices from "the other side", but to facilitate entire two-way conversations with the dead.

Unfortunately there seems to be evidence that suggests Meek was a schizophrenic with ventriloquist skills who hoaxed the entire thing. That said, the original 40 minute Spiricom broadcast is still very creep and worth listening to.

Why it's cool: hearing the original Spiricom audio recordings "from the other side" were creepy, however learning that O'Neil was a schizophrenic who recorded all of the sessions in a partially burned down house, in a tiny, blackened room without windows while having ventriloquist conversations with himself... only adds to the creepiness. Alternately, perhaps Spiricom was legitimate and it drove O'Neil insane?

This was a classic. I nearly recreated the Spiricom to test this report, but someone connected with the project contacted me. They didn't blame schizophrenia, but identified RF interference and a hoaxer as the problem.

BTW, your thread made the world a better place.

Thanks (this list did take many, many, many hours to create because I re-listened to each of the episodes to ensure my memory served me well and my comments were accurate).

Thank you for voting... I have adjusted the main list to reflect your vote :-) (I do that periodically).

Also, feel free to post your own favourite episode, even if it's a rare one, so other people can discover and enjoy it too... and I'll include it in the main list!

I'm always looking for new classics that I can listen to when I go for an early morning run... when it's still dark... and creepy... :-).

I can honestly vouch for every episode in this list... however this and this are very special and recent episodes of good audio quality too and I especially recommend them if you haven't already listened to them!

Trumbull County 911 Call Center UFO sightings

Aired: Coast to Coast AM, 26 February 1999

Audio: The Ultimate Art Bell Collection torrent

Kenny Young introduces audio from Trumbull County's 911 Call Operators, recorded December 14th 1994 at approximately 11pm, as they discuss eye witness accounts from numerous people including locals, Police Officers and Security Guards of multiple glowing, objects hovering and moving through the streets of Trumbull County!

Why it's cool: JESUS THIS IS A MUST-LISTEN-TO EPISODE! It's like being a fly on the wall of a 911 call center as they are flooded with call after call about UFO sightings and it's fun to hear the call operator's attitudes change from being amused to being disturbed as the Police describe their pursuit of the UFOs through the streets and above the houses of Trumbull County!

- "Oh, Jesus Christ... please be a plane... I'm not ready for this shit!" - Police Officer eye witness

- "If I'm looking at Venus then there are six of them!" - Police Officer eye witness

- "I just wish it was cloudy so we weren't seeing this!" - Police Officer eye witness

Electronic Voice Phenomena (voices of the dead)

Aired: Dark Matter, 7 October 2013 (this alternate link has much more info)

Audio: YouTube, The Ultimate Art Bell Collection torrent

Note: GIS were guests many times over the years and most shows had similar content. Brendan Cook and Jimmy Chunga of the Ghost Investigators Society discuss and play ghostly voices captured from various haunted locations such as graveyards and prisons which are not audible during the investigation but are captured electronically.

Most of the ghostly voices seem eerily related to the locations where they were recorded.

Why it's cool: It's super-creepy to hear the audio of unexplainable voices from haunted location. The number of child voices are especially disturbing, especially "that" EVP of the drowning child and especially when Cook explains he believe the source of the child voices are intentionally misleading and were made by beings that were never human.

Ghost to Ghost Halloween shows

Aired: every Halloween on Coast to Coast AM, Dark Matter, Midnight in the Desert

Audio: YouTube, Download, The Ultimate Art Bell Collection torrent

Art Bell's Halloween special shows have become an institution and an annual highlight for anyone who enjoys creepy ghost stories. Art has produced Halloween specials while hosting Coast to Coast AM, Dark Matter and Midnight in the Desert under the titles of Ghost to Ghost, Spooky Matter and most recently Dead Air.

Although it's difficult to nominate a specific Halloween show to be more outstanding than the others, the earlier pre-2010 shows are widely considered to all be "classics".

Be warned though, the Spooky Matter episode isn't considered to be one of the better shows and also note that George Noory hosted the 2002 and has continued producing Coast to Coast AM Halloween specials under the title Ghost to Ghost, all of which deserve the ocean of ridicule they receive. If you see George "Snoory" Noory then please throw a pie at him and say it's from me!

Why it's cool: because it's a collection of creepy ghost stories! Who doesn't like that? Nobody, that's who!
