Reducing what you do on the computer can make it seem like a bigger machine than it was. Also, if it doesn't have an SSD, put one of those fuckers in. It's cheap and worth it. At least you'll get a novelty high for a month or two.

Sounds like an expensive way to waste money.. Laptops are something people need nowadays for anything including to find work or even have family photos.

Cutting corners by using tablets, Linux, and all that crap, especially when you don't have cable hookups or a TV sounds like a good way to snap. Is the OP into masochism and torturing himself and others?

This whole diatribe sounds like you need to replace your fucking computer or make everyone else's life pure hell. Go buy another one and try not to break it this time. A $1400 machine shouldn't break after 2 years unless you're trashing your own shit on purpose.

I'd say spend the money on anger management classes if OP is really so insane to think that purchasing a replacement is even optional at this point..
