I really like this. No it's not perfect, it's impossible to know if some people posting there are actually his constituents, etc., etc., I get all that, but what I love is the innovation and the idea.
I think he probably has staffers responding to questions, and in addition, he takes input that way and brings up our concerns with the bill, right there on the floor of the State House. It is freaking amazing, and I've never even really voted much before, and I don't agree with everything he stands for, but damnit it feels good to have the VOICE to tell him, right then and there, I don't support this bill, or this bill is important to me, or This version of the Bill is good with me, but I don't like this other version you all are bandying about.
The fact that I get input, someone is actually reading it, responding to it, asking my questions to other State Reps about why they are pushing this or that bill, etc., etc., it feels just so politically empowering. He tells us immediately what his vote was, why he voted that way, and tells us to email him, call him, mail him, facebook book him, heck meet him out at the park if we live nearby when we're both walking our dogs, if we agree, disagree or just want to talk.
Like I said, I have disagreed with him before, and he is willing to talk it out, explain his reasoning, let me know he feels my thoughts are valid, but that he has more input from other constituents that want things the other way, and I can live with this. I think it's just the power to have input that feels so damned good.
