I am a white male, in my mid 30's, current active duty military member.
During the day I take classes to pursue a bachelor's degree, and at night I work shift for the DoD.
I live in a very Black dominated area of the U.S.
I am attending a class with 12 students, 10 of those are Black, 1 is Hispanic and me.
We took a test, and at the end the instructor wrote the names of the top three highest scoring individuals on the board up front, my name was not on there, although I scored a 97 out of 100 possible, and the instructor claimed the highest grade was an 84.
At first I believed the instructor (who is black) made an honest error. Oh well.
Then today, during our lecture, we went through 14 slides in intense detail regarding unemployment, but when we got to the slide regarding demographics which portrayed Whites and Asians being the lowest on the scale while blacks being the highest by astonishing numbers, the instructor moved by the slide as if it wasn't even there.
Am I reading too much into this, or should I be aware of something else?
