We don't have a forest problem.

Sigh

Within the US, Canada, and Mexico, trees are already replanted or otherwise sustainably harvested by methods such as selective harvesting. The drone idea started in Oregon? They replant more trees there than most places. I would be willing to bet that whoever spearheaded this was a logging exec who was tired of paying people to plant trees by hand. Not saying this is a bad thing, but it's not going to fix the "forest problem", which is largely a third world problem anyway.

I have also heard the claim that a vast majority of the world's CO2 is actually absorbed in the (largely unharvested) boreal forests of Canada and Russia, as well as by ocean dwelling photosynthesizers; not so much the tropics where the trees are disappearing.
