All valid points which makes one wonder

WHO HAD THE RESTORATION CONTRACT?

If it's the restoration companies fault, then their name should be all over the place. Especially, considering that it's a well known and huge project. Even more so now.

So, again, who had the restoration contract?

They are probably washing evidence and all traces online as we post.

it's a historical site, i'm pretty sure European countries have people who are specialized in this sort of work, they aren't exactly framing up condos….which is why i'm fairly certain this isn't just a construction accident.

I spent about 20 minutes trying to find any mention of who was awarded the contract. Haven't founded any yet. I thought the preservationists and restoration people had assloads of blogs and documented everything they did?
