The punishment of God in the afterlife is literally Hell. Far worse than any punishment in life. To some extent, you could consider punishment in this world as a mercy. If there's any imbalance in the mortal punishment God makes up the difference, thus justice is upheld

You would risk Hell (if you made an error in judgment) just so that you could dispense judgment on another human being? Even when you knew that God would handle it at God's own leisure in its appropriate time? If I truly believed that I could judge incorrectly (probably 99% of the time since man is so limited in his understanding) and face Hell for it, I would never render judgment on any man.
