There is this idea that since computers have become such a big part of our lives, it is advantageous to have some level of competency beyond the bare basics of use.

Just knowing the basics of scripting (bash, powershell) would have many office drones multiply their productivity. Everyone using a computer having an idea of how an operating system and a virus works would see data breaches and so on plummet.

The idea is the old generations are doomed, but we can do better for the new ones. The problem is they are often taught by not the best, to put it lightly.

If only we could once off purge everyone with an <100 (as per the current average) IQ…
