The proper way is to close the bottle with a lid/cork and tie the wick to the outside of the bottle with rope/tape.

After you light the matches, how the fuck do you throw it? Where do you hold it by? Especially if you use a perrier bottle for it.

make sure it’s tight the wick should be rolled/twisted so it’s larger than the opening, and needs to be shoved in with a stick the wick should only stick out as far as a normal oil lamp type wick the further the wick sticks out, the more light it will put off and >also the more likely it will fall out vs the more likely the flame will be put out when throwing if the wick sticks out that far, tie it around the neck of the container with an overhand knot test test test
make sure it’s tight
