Well it depends how much you hate existence. Who said a hypothetical afterlife would have anything at all to do with spending time with people. That just doesn't make sense. People are biological, carbon-based creatures on earth. If people exist in a sort of afterlife with those characteristics, it would be more like reincarnation than anything. Hardly heaven, you're still the toy of your own impulses and physical/social needs.
There are a couple religions that have the basis on being surrounded by loved ones in the afterlife. And whether you have a physical body or are less is still a philosophical debate even among Christians. Many famous philosophers made arguments based on that very subject actually.
