As I'm getting older, I come to realize star wars never was anything more than a franchise meant to be milked and monetized, boiled down and meaningless.

I used to be a huge fan but it's just for kids.

George Lucas had a vision at one point. When he was a younger man who was not corrupted by the way his little art project ended up printing money for him in the end. He wanted to make a space opera which had classic elements like unlikely heroes, princesses falling for bad boys, danger and excitement. By Return of the Jedi, he had taken the big payoff and it shows. Everything after Empire just REEKS of a cash cow series meant to farm hapless nerds for money. Star Wars fans will LITERALLY lick up the shit from Lucas' asshole, and it really is quite pathetic how they truly believe Star Wars can do no wrong.

Amen to this. I have fond memories of enjoying the OT and loving how the prequels expanded the universe (Star Wars Episode I: Racer on N64 is still fun) but the way that people propped up TFA seemed like virtue signaling. "Haha, all of those lame White guys are bitching about the lead? Pssh, it's the Current Year; get with it!"

So I spoiled the ending of TFA for a bunch of people and many of them are still pissed at me to this day. Star Wars manchildren are worse than Bronies. Fact.

Star Trek was always better.

Star wars was made for the kids of Star Trek fans. Like diapers, it is a crutch for the real thing, which is way better in every conceivable way.

Star Trek sucks.

40k is the real deal. It is the most realistic expectation of the future that we can expect: a dark age in space.

Star Trek was equality, diversity, affirmative action garbage.

Red dwarf has more creativity and charm then star trek none of the dull pretense that makes trek so unwatchable.

Farscape was also pretty good.

That's just capitalism at work. It already filled most of the markets decades ago so the only money left to be made is in creating more markets, whether it is ethical to do so or not.

I saw the original Star Wars in the theater, and happily watched The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, ditto.

Life went on. The older I got, the less interest I had in ever watching those films on VHS or DVD. And when the Phantom Menace came out , I thought, isn't this film at least a decade too late? But I watched it, didn't like it, and hated the other two even more.

These last ones? I have yet to see them, whether in a theater, streaming, blue ray-ANY format. No interest . The Return of the Jedi should have been the last movie ; all the others simply tainted the exceedingly minor virtues of the first three films in retrospect.

Just as someone else said, Star Wars was for the kids of Star Trek fans, the prequels were for the children of fans of the original trilogy. It is only about making money, they don’t care about you at all as long as you and your kids go to the theater.

Perfect description, tainted. These films reek of the taint.

Saw this film as a cam copy with chinese adverts all over it. I wanted to see what was dividing my social group down the middle between haters and likers.

Stripped of the Imax effect on the big screen this film shows its true colours as an gaseous, vacuous, inflated turd, bloated by 40 years of love and fandom which it crudely exploded all over the faces of the idiots that paid to see this.

SJW cunts managed to ruin what little was left of any virtue in this franchise. It's dead now. And I predict that the Han Solo film that is only months away and nobody has seen anything of is going to finally finish it off.

Fuck you Disney. You are officially a soulless bunch of preachy, feminist, Marxist cunts.

Once Hollywood ramped up its hypocritical, non-stop, anti-everything-but-them preaching that is how I have watched movies. At least the Chinese subs are better than the freakish Russian, geek in the alley with the laptop ad.

I never watched The Last Jedi... And I never will in a way that seperates a single cent from my pocket. Just like I never watched a number of sequels I knew were inferior to such a degree that they destroyed the legacy that was their predecessors. It is maybe the harder choice to make given my loveof movies, but it is also certainly the more rewarding choice, personally.

I had the mis-fortune to see it twice. Once for my own curiosity, once because we were at the theater as a family and Jumanji was sold out.

A well timed "allahu akbar" joke makes this movie enjoyable. Just sayin'
