I don't think this kid was specifically targeted for any reason. The trolls throw out bait to everyone, this kid just happened to fall for it. He just learned a very valuable lesson at a young age about trusting people on the internet.

I think that people are over-exaggerating this incident. Sure the boy is gullible, but he shouldn't be trusting people on the internet anyways. Also, at 13, he should probably have basic computer/electronics knowledge. I have a hard time feeling sorry for him; it just seems like he learned an important lesson- don't completely trust the internet.

I agree. By 13 you should know that putting food on your computer and then cooking it aren't legitimate repair techniques. If he lacked reasoning that basic then he has bigger problems. If he knows better now, then that's worth more than some boxes that play video games. Still, and I realize this isn't really the best sub to try to bring up this point but anyone who exploits someone's ignorance like that is pretty much a jerk but it's nothing unforgivable.

hich involves persuading inept computer users to essentially brick their machines by having them delete System32, an essential file for Windows PCs.

Found the inept computer user.

The faggots at youtube removed that one. I would've liked to see that.

Many Thanks for the link! This just looked like too much entertainment value to pass up.

That's so perfect, I feel bad (to a degree) and all but how can you be that stupid? I mean he almost doesn't even deserve sympathy.

He'll learn the most valuable lesson you can possibly learn about the internet-- that is, learning not to trust anybody over the internet.
