Nintendo Switch will support “portable-only” games | Ars Technica

"Nintendo's attempt to define its new Switch game system as a portable-home hybrid grew a little more confusing on Monday.", "Hands-on with Nintendo Switch: Jack of all trades, master of some If the developer's listing is indeed accurate, that would make the game in question, called Voez, the first Switch game to officially forbid docking to its TV stand.", "However, that adds a caveat to the expectation that all the system's games would work in both portable and docked modes."

'The Switch raised eyebrows in its first reveal video for showing zero touches or taps on the 6.2" screen. '

' Nintendo of America did not answer our question about the developer's "portable-only" claim in time for this article's publication; we will update this report if we receive a response. '

If Nintendo is allowing developers to make "portable-only" games, that can use the Switch screen as a touch screen.. well, sounds to me like the Switch has two huge components of a 3DS's livelihood right there. Add the fact that it plays digital downloads or game cards.... sounds an awful lot like the Switch is going to kill the 3DS.

Time will tell.

Until you look at the battery life, and realize it is specifically designed to be played while you travel to the bathroom. 4 hours of play time is not near enough to be coilnsidered a porta le gaming system.
