What is the big deal about Voat? (Not trying to argue) submitted by xzedsdead to AskVoat

Thank you for responding. Okay, so this is something I have noticed. A lot less entertainment related posts and a lot more, "hey, let's talk about this". Similar to what the other commenter was saying, it seems like Voat is a lot more focused on participation in discussions vs. reposts of shitty entertainment that make it to the front page. Buzzfeed-esque.

Okay, interesting. I'm excited to see how this site will grow and change over time. I'll be looking into the whole vote manipulation and censorship topics while I'm here. I'm just trying to get a feel for this place. However you guys are making this place a lot more enticing for myself.

Thank you again.

Thanks for your response! How did these censorships come to surface? Were people noticing their posts vanishing from Reddit? Is this why I'm noticing a lot of people on Voat posting screenshots of the front page on Reddit and the entertainment related posts? Ex. Cat pictures, memes, funny photos, etc?

Okay. Limitations is an interesting concept. Is this to promote participation with lurkers? It's a rather aggressive move but maybe it's to promote a community that thrives.

When you say "downhill", do you mean that in terms of the content posted, and the content being censored?

Again, thank you for your response. I'll be hanging around Voat for awhile, exploring and perhaps participating.
