I'll admit to some bias here as I liked the game at launch.

They implemented servers for match stability, they did a comprehensive performance patch which doubled the frame rate I was seeing in the game, they've added replays, leagues (a la StarCraft: bronze, silver, gold etc) and player rating (e.g. this person was a tool or this person was a good opponent) observer mode... maybe I'm forgetting some stuff too.

They did a 3 mission mini campaign featuring what happened with Singleton in between their second and third acts of their original campaign, which i BELIEVE is included in the expansion content.

The expansion adds a new faction that is more micro-friendly than the original factions but I believe is pretty well balanced against them. Each original faction also gets a new unit that is a little more micro-friendly to increase the benefits of skillful play with units.

They increase the viability of economic harassment by making harvesters spawn less frequently and carry more resources (so killing them off is more valuable now) and re-balanced some of the faction's unique aspects (like the human teleporter)

Over all the game is a LOT better than it was when it launched last year. Fundamentally, it still plays pretty much the same so if you weren't interested in the fundamental gameplay you might not enjoy its current iteration, but a lot of things have improved a great deal since last year.

EDIT - if I had one wish about the game at this point, it's that the early game would be a bit quicker. Otherwise I'm happy with it

With a new Homeworld game announced and Total Annihilation hitting Steam, it's been a big week for RTS news. submitted by waywardstrategy to gaming

I post here occasionally... Voat is friendlier to small blogs like mine for sure. :)

Thanks for the clarification. I'll try to be more conscientious about what I'm posting. For me, posting to voat is FAR superior to posting to reddit. I don't make money on the content I produce - I actually lose a bit of money on my site. I love posting here as people tend to actually respond to the articles and get into discussions about the games/writing I do, which is really the whole point, for me.

I'll try to be more involved in general on the gaming subverse, and keep in mind that I shouldn't exclusively be posting my own content.

Again, thanks for the clarification. Reddit is much more vague about this sort of thing, and often mods don't issue warnings before acting.

I desperately wanted to put in the Reaver but the Dark Archon beat it out slightly.

Hydras would certainly not be out of place in the list though. Ditto Lurkers. Any top 20 list is going to leave out tons of great options :/
