"Stop Fucking Crying!" SWAT Raids Wrong Home, Holds Naked Mom at Gunpoint in Front of Children submitted by chasOSG to news

The fact that they were at the wrong house is only part of their incompetent and brutal blunder, however. These inept barbarians actually arrested Jackson 2 weeks prior to the raid!

This was the most shocking part of it. The person who they were looking for had already been arrested.

“While not the intention of the bill, it would create a new wave of frivolous and unpredictable actions against legitimate companies rather than addressing underlying criminal behavior."

Pretty sure this IS the intention of the bill. So long as the rules are overly broad you can use them to target certain sites while ignoring others for doing the same thing.

Google will be the search engine, and Alphabet will be the repository of bankrupt side projects.

Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts: Why Do You Need Minorities In Physics Class? What are the benefits of diversity are in that situation? submitted by TerriChris to news

Physics teacher here: You need diversity in physics so that people from different cultural backgrounds have an opportunity to become engineers and scientists. If you create a situation where only people of a certain race can become scientists and engineers, when a minority of a different race wants to do that as a career there will be a tendency to discriminate against them because they "wouldn't fit in" with everyone else. You already see this today with women who want physics degrees (at the school where I taught very few females made it to the end to get their degree, and many that I talked to quit because they were told discouraging and condescending things from their male professors). This was the whole point of promoting diversity to begin with, and it is every bit as important in science as it is everywhere else.

Not that I expect the supreme court to understand any of this. After all, this is the court that ruled that it was O.K. for the police to strip search people for any offense no matter how minor: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/04/03/us/justices-approve-strip-searches-for-any-offense.html?_r=0 . What do you really expect from these people?

Nonsense. I have multiple degrees in multiple fields (biochemistry and physics), and I have been teaching at the university level now going on a decade. I am the very definition of an informed insider on this topic. And I have seen the real danger of schools that are not diverse vs. those that are. Like it or not, when you don't have a diverse student body the people in that school start to believe that they are better than people of other races, economic groups, or genders simply because they do not see those people around them. They reach this conclusion because they don't see enough examples around them to contradict their stupidity. I can tell you things I have seen professors say about other minority races from these schools that will make your skin crawl. And a lot of this is a product of those races, economic groups, genders being under represented at those schools. How quickly people forget why laws like this got put on the books to begin with.

Waterbottles are being throw; bring out the riot gear and the automatic rifles.

EDIT: I find it hilarious that this got downvoted seeing as how I just repeated what was in the article with no elaboration.
