Farmer forced to dump 248 gallons of raw milk & break 1200 eggs submitted by macredsmile to news

So, first off, I think wasting food is dumb and should be avoided.

That said, this family has been contacted multiple times about the lack of licensing compliance. The Department even gave them tips on how to arrange their co-op to legally comply with the licensing requirements of Michigan. Also somewhat telling is that after this seizure, the co-op operators immediately restructured their arrangement to actually comply with what the DoA told them they needed back in July.

Now, nobody likes complying with licensing, or building code, or any other government regulation that specifies how you have to do things. I'm sure there are, for example, GCs with enough experience that they can redesign a bathroom or a kitchen just as well as an architect. However, there are also plenty of people who would wing it and do things which are ultimately dangerous, so we have a licensing system to help protect the public at large from their actions.

Would this raw milk / egg farm ever have caused widespread sickness? Who knows, maybe they'd stay lucky for a long time. There's even an argument to be made about the benefits of washing eggs -- the UK requires the opposite of what we do. However, the rules are the current rules, everyone has to play by them, and these folks had plenty of warnings and help in understanding what they needed to do in order to comply -- it took an actual penalty for them to decide to play by the same rules as everyone else does.

Muslim cleric's letter to the Sun about preventing sex assault -- too much freedom to women is the cause of these sex attacks submitted by dildonkers to news

If you take a literal reading of the Quran, women are valued relative to camels and other property in varying amounts. They are not seen as people in the Islamic religion. You can't really be surprised by this response from a cleric of that religion.

Shhh, get out of here! This is a Microsoft witch hunt, not one where we educate users on which motherboard settings are supported by their OSes!

A company operating in these areas that can't make a simple firewall rule needs to fire their networking team and hire at least one engineer. This is maybe an hour's worth of work, and that's assuming you're working on an a/b pair and need to switch traffic back and forth, prepare a rollback prior to deployment, etc.

I can assure you that many large financial, (U.S.) military, and multiple governments are already moving to this OS. Of course it won't be on CIPR for quite some time, but that's for a whole host of other reasons.

New long term study links glyphosate to liver disease at levels far lower than what's currently legally allowed in both the EU and US submitted by rwbj to science

Oh look, a repost. Voat feels more and more like reddit as the months go by...

Incidentally: don't drink glyphosate. Duh.

The study is interesting and it definitely demonstrates that research in humans would be really valuable. Most of the research I've read so far have focused on whether it's a carcinogen, and the evidence there is more than nothing, but it's less than certain -- there's a much clearer correlation in animals that doesn't translate to humans.
