I actually agree that, in principle, The US got it right. Unfortunately, now the power lies in the hands of the corporations and not the sovereign free united peoples. Bummer

I think the general attitudes and culture of a nation play a massive part in this. If people can healthily express feelings and emotions then it doesn't need to spill into resentment and grudges.
