How do you have 18 upvotes? Shit like this is really going to make Voat look bad and reinforce Reddit's false narrative about the user base (or maybe it's true we are being inundated with users from terrible banned subs like coontown at this point).

Why do different types of alcohol cause people to get drunk quicker or slower? submitted by Tinker_Bell to AskScience

I can tell you that with beer specifically hops are nearly always an ingredient (even in beers that don't taste "hoppy" like IPAs do), and they do have somewhat of psychotropic effect.. Specifically they make you feel drowsy and mildly sedated. This effect can kind of magnify the alcohol intoxication a bit (especially in extra hoppy beers) and may be why lower ABV beers seem to hit you stronger than mixed drinks.

Nice article. I've only read the first book but I loved it. Learned a couple of things I didn't know from this. Interesting that Herbert personally knew Alan Watts.

The Netflix original Sens8 is actually surprisingly good, despite the dumb sounding name, it's made by the Wachowskis, pretty imaginative scifi with some sweet action scenes and fight choreography. It touches on some very relevant social issues too! Another good show I just discovered on Netflix would be the Canadian miniseries Ascension. It's kind of cheesy and there are only 6 episodes, but it's suspenseful, visually cool, and a pretty interesting concept.
