False Advertising lawsuit filed against Monsanto for stating poison does not affect people or pets. submitted by arrggg to news

Fuck Monsanto, but it's ironic that the advertising on behalf of the plaintiff here is considerably more "false". Glyphosate (Roundup) targets ONE enzyme, namely 5-enolpyruvylshikimate-3-phosphate (EPSP) synthase, found in plants and bacteria (including human gut flora). Not sure where they're getting the value of "about 300" enzymes. Not to mention the dramatization of enzyme inhibition as "killing" a non-living molecule.

I'm glad to see people are so suspicious of this move. I hope we continue to watch Alphabet closely.

I'm not defending Monsanto, and I definitely hope they lose. But it's ironic that the plaintiff feels the need to use the same methods they're criticizing to accomplish that. Scientific accuracy and honesty is important despite your agenda.

Does Bernie Sanders have a chance of beating Hillary in the primaries? submitted by shutupdonny to AskPolitics

If you have more to flesh out, I'd love to hear it. As much as I hope you're wrong, I have a feeling you're right, but I don't know enough about elections/wtf Americans want to put my finger on why. Do you really think it's impossible for Sanders to convince over-30s Dems to vote for him? Would that be bc of lack of $ or just his message not being sell-able to them? Thanks so much!

I worry about that ultimate outcome... but as a liberal, I might be more likely to vote Republican over Hillary anyway depending on the candidate, so first step in my book is beating her in the primaries so it doesn't come to that.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply. I worry that "socialist" is too much of a buzzword for the older Democrats, and certainly most Republicans though. We'll see!
