We live in a dangerous world. We continue to face grave security threats like terrorism, cyber-attacks, and nuclear proliferation tyranny...

FTFY, Obama.

Edit: Fix ellipsis.

What is the purpose of moderation in a completely open community that has the ability to police itself with up/down voats? submitted by yewbontheboat to AskVoat

purr 0 points 43 points (+43|-0) ago

I support moderation, but only loose moderation. If you sub's about gaming, and someone posts about cats, well, delete it. But if your sub is about news, and you start deleting posts that support a particular point of view, then that sucks.

So remember kids, when you tell women that wearing certain clothes might unfortunately attract rapists, it's victim-blaming. But when you stone rape victims to death, it's feminism.

It's not even about political correctness. He kept interrupting her. That's not presidential behavior.

I think one of Voat's biggest problems is the community. There's tons of people here who hate Jews, black people, etc, and they're dominating the main subs to the point where intelligent discussion doesn't take place, it's just rants about (((them))). This all started because people wanted hardly any moderation at all in the default subs. This has made Voat a much less intellectual and interesting place IMHO, pushing out people who want to be friendly instead of hateful.

Voat shouldn't be about forcing anarchy in all the default subs. Voat should be a place where everybody has their own area. FPH never causes stuff like this because they stay in their own sub. Maybe the concept of default subs should be eliminated altogether.

Are you a libertarian? submitted by Hindex to AskVoat

Absolutely. One of the few un-libertarian things I believe in is open borders. However, if we eliminated welfare (which we should), I would have no problem with immigration that is open to all peaceful people (i.e. nobody who can't prove their identity to allow background checks, no Muslims.)
