I brought that up to a religious acquaintance of mine. She asked why I hate fat people so much. Now, I'm not a religious person at all, but I felt that she'd understand better if I'd use something she can relate to. I told her that a fat is much more than just fat. It's a whole lifestyle filled with gluttony, laziness, greed and even envy. While she didn't reply anything back, I feel like I planted a little fat hate seed in her mind. Only time will tell if it will be growing into a wonderful fat hate tree.

If you don't want that to happen, take your subs out of v/all. I don't think voaters go out of their way to downvoat you. If your subs show up in v/all, then everyone can see them, therefore everyone is allowed to up/downvoat.

I'd say it's the opposite. It proves that CICO is a thing... The more people walk into the room, the more people there will be in the room, right? Unless there is an other exit somewhere. It's pretty much the same with Calories. The more Cal come in, the more it get stored, unless there is an output somehow.
Why are the people staying in the room? No one cares. What matters is that people can come in and out of the room. The exit can be small or big, the room can be spacious or tight, it doesn't matter. People can still come in and out as they are told.
Your room is tight (AKA your TDEE is low)? Well, that sucks. It means you can't have massive parties in it. It's still reality though. You can either invite fewer people (less calories in) or have a bigger exit door (more calories out).

By making better food choices and exercising moderately (not able to hold conversation or use your phone) every day, you increase sensitivity to insulin, which in turn affect the "ultimate cause". Now I'm not a scientist, nor do I work in medical/biological field. I knew nothing about CICO until I put a stop to my own fatssness. I counted my calories, used a scale, exercised every day. Magically, the weight came off!
Someone I know is an alcoholic. This person doesn't want to be fat either. I disagree with his decision, but his body, not mine. CICO works for him too. He doesn't eat nearly as much as I do. He drinks a lot his calories and exercise moderately 3-5 times a week. Magically, the weight stays off.
I've seen friends complaining about their lack of progress to me. They started weighting their food. BOOM! They lose weight.
I don't pretend to hold the ultimate truth. Like I said I'm not an expert in nutrition. I also thought that neither of your analogies made sense. I think it would be closer to compare an alcoholic that has cirrhosis. It would be like saying the ultimate cause of his alcoholism is his cirrhosis. The same way the ultimate cause of obesity would be type II diabetes/ high blood pressure/ insulin resistance/joint pain. Both conditions come from a long period of self-induced abuse. If stopped in time, they can be reversible or easily manageable.
I know I won't be able to convince you. You seem prepared to fight back anyone that dares contradicting you. To me it sounds like a bunch of excuses. Not everyone has a 2000Cal TDEE because not everyone is a 5'7 human that walks a lot. It sucks, but it's the reality. You have to deal with it.
