I think it's clear that there are groups of people here intentionally being fools in order to negatively affect Voat's reputation. Personally I think it's sad and a waste of time--but then again, so many true Voat users are giving these trolls attention that it may not be a waste of time after all.

We need to collectively acknowledge that it may be very likely that trolls are attempting to sabotage Voat. We need to react maturely; if site policies or laws are being broken, ban the damn trolls. Otherwise, we the community should downvoat their folly and move on. If those trolls have also secured positions of power (ie mod positions) we should work on installing a vote-of-no-confidence feature in subverses that--only with overwhelming support--can remove those mods from power.

Of course these are things we have to discuss, but in terms of the ordinary trolls who spew their repulsive behaviour across the subs in the name of slander, I say let's keep downvoating them. See them for what they are.

General Operations & Actions Testimonial (GOAT statement) submitted by PuttItOut to announcements

I definitely think reducing operating costs is a priority, and I know you need help to do that in reasonable time. We have people from /v/Linux actively working to help with that process.

Specific parts Putt has stated a need for volunteers so far:

  • Lawyer
  • Community relations
  • Marketing
  • Sales

Putt, could you go into some more depth sometime soon about the exact work that needs to be done in these categories? And are there any other roles that need to be filled? I think the more specific the stated roles are the more likely people are to reach out.

EDIT: Also, if people stay true to their pledges and if more pledges come in, I'm sure that with reduced monthly costs and more volunteers we can run Voat long-term and smoothly. If you intend to donate monthly and are not on the list I linked to, please contact me so we all have a better understanding of how much we can reasonably hope to bring in each month on our own.

EDIT 2: Also, that title is amazing.

As long as you come legally we have no complaint.

Unless you start raping our citizens, then we'll send you back.

You too, turd. Welcome to the blocked list. I've humoured you faggots and allowed you to waste my time for long enough.

Malcontents in v/GreatAwakening and v/pizzagate are taking full advantage of the recent up/downvote and editing bugs submitted by Vindicator to voatdev

PeaceSeeker 9 points -7 points (+2|-9) ago

No, not inappropriate, I was just a little confused about its intent. The codebase update was supposed to be a simple update without any really noticeable changes, more a thing of necessity than something involving the userbase, which is why it was not accompanied by any announcement. The bugs were not fully understood or acknowledged until after the update; it looks like Putt is looking into them now. Sorry about all the trouble.

What? If an account has important information to share with Voat, post it to /v/whatever. No censorship or banning there, save for spammers. I don't see what your comment has to do with small subverses banning people.
