Get your emergency fund out of the (((bank))) submitted by BoycottJews to PersonalFinance

notlogic 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

While you could reduce the size of your emergency fund using this method, you'd still need to have one in case of unforeseen emergencies.

Car breaks down, medical emergencies, pet gets sick, critical laptop dies after warranty, etc.

So you still need an emergency fund, but if you're interested in reducing how much is in the bank, how can you keep your emergency fund safe from things like flood, theft, or fire, but still available immediately in case you need it?

One idea that comes to mind is a Shift card with Coinbase. The value of your money will be more volatile, since it would be cryptocurrency, but you'd get around using a traditional bank and still have the ease of plastic. Non-Coinbase cyrptocurrency usage would also be an option, but it's not as fungible as a Visa card. Non-Coinbase crypocurrency would be useless if you break down in a rural area.

So what other options are there? A well-researched credit union?

No, we can't.

We can blame individuals for their own actions. We aren't savages.
