Why is paying for sex such a big taboo? submitted by ArtEnt to AskVoat

I'm from the states and prostitution being taboo is mainly the cause of the women's movement. It was widely legal in the US before the women's movement. I personally feel that legalizing prostitution will reduce the amount of human trafficking and also provide a legal way for two consensual adults to exchange goods and services. There are still areas that have legal prostitution and they seem to do just fine. Girls come and go as they please in the industry and they are given tools to protect their health and their customer's health. I feel that the problem with it being taboo is that it demonizes male sexuality. Also there are many men out there who suffer from physical and mental disabilities. Who are we to deny them sexual release, a basic human need. Here's a story by the comedian Jim Jefferies talking about taking his disabled friend to a brothel.

Yea strange thing about feminists. They promote female sexuality but won't let a girl legally make money off of it. Weird how that logic works.

According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), by age 50, about 90% of adults have been exposed to the virus.

Herpes stays with you for life so if you are exposed to it you have it. It's just dormant.

Adding a million little methane production plants a year. I think it would be a worthwhile effort to look into genetically modifying live stock to produce fewer green house gasses.
