Study: Men accept unfairness from attractive women. submitted by Sperethiel to science

Sometimes science affirms what we already believe, but sometimes it contradicts what we might intuitively believe. At least I can defend this point with hard research, except that no one disagrees with it.

Just because they're attractive doesn't mean people respect them. The fact they're treated differently automatically shows bias, but I like your question because it seems some finer points could be addressed.

"If this militia were black they'd already be dead."

You mean like if the Black Panthers grabbed shotguns and rifles and took over a State Capitol building? http://www.corbisimages.com/images/Corbis-BE020601.jpg?size=67&uid=e6bd6cbd-8be9-4819-bdae-8bfcecbb0e8b

Or realize the racial connotations of the word, especially in the comments section of a story about a hate crime. You could express the same idea in a different way.

Florida Health Officials Hope To Test GMO Mosquitoes This Spring submitted by Nogrim to news

klusterVug 2 points -1 points (+1|-2) ago

Yeah, and antibiotics kill 99.999% of germs, then that last .001% that happened to be immune to it replicates and thrives, creating a super-species that can't be killed by the same treatments. Maybe it's too soon to see, but that missing 10% might just fuck everybody.

I know that Monsanto can splice together plants that resist pesticides, so depending on what you're trying to develop it could get out of hand. Imagine a type of mosquito, in another scenario, that resists chemicals, or has a higher birthrate, etc. I will admit, this case seems somewhat innocuous, but I think it's perfectly fine to ask these questions. Maybe I don't know everything about genetics, but I'm sure as hell not going to accept that policymakers decide how to manipulate the environment without submitting criticisms.

I'm not a nuclear physicist either, but they want to build a reactor in my neighborhood someone better damn well convince me I'm safe before I agree.
