Outrage as Philly pushes through ban on bulletproof glass in crime-plagued neighborhood shops submitted by newoldwave to news

kcupsandstudentloans 0 points 84 points (+84|-0) ago

Politicians ban bulletproof glass.

Store owners close up business.

Property values plummet.

Politicians' business associates buy up empty stores at pennies on the dollar.

Politicians suddenly decide the law was stupid, allow new owners (themselves) to put up bulletproof glass.

As Dreamers protested outside Marco Rubios office, a U.S. Border Patrol truck showed up submitted by individualin1984 to news

The Dreamer act was put in place during the Obama presidency as a measure to allow the people temporary amnesty so they could not have their lives completely disrupted while they were applying for citizenship. Years later, many if not most of these people have done nothing to apply for citizenship; if they are interviewed, they admit that they have not even taken the first step in a process they are well aware takes years.

The law has been applied as it was designed. They were granted temporary amnesty, and they squandered it. Send them to what they have defined as their home country.

Why are Black People still on welfare after 8 years of Obama? submitted by gabara to AskVoat

Family of five climbs into two Escalades with rims that cost more than you make in a month. Said Escalades are already full of packages from previous shopping that day. More EBT cards are scattered loosely on the center console. They drop fast food cups and bags out on the ground before driving away at high speed through parking lot crowded with pedestrians. Each DVD screen (including the one in front of the driver) is playing video of black people jumping up and down in time to "music".

I suggest that Sessions needs to review the 10th Amendment.

Things were different 40 years ago. submitted by Grumpy_Old_Man to whatever

This isn't the same America as that era.

I had an older relative pass away recently; he was the epitome of grace and good manners, an old-fashioned gentleman. He lived close to 90 years. If he saw or heard something that would have fit the definition of "that sort of behavior would have never flown while I was young", he would just pretty much stop talking rather than offer an opinion. The longer he lived, the more I noticed those quiet gaps in conversations.

Having given some amount of thought to the subject, yeah, if I were to transport myself right now back to a year in America's past, if I wanted to find the best years to live in America, I would pick sometime around 1919.

Dem Wins in Virginia, New Jersey: Not a Repudiation of Trump, but a Warning submitted by HarlandKornfeld14 to OccidentalEnclave

I've been looking at the positions and accomplishments of the winners in Virginia, and the only thing I can think is that we need to prepare for the arrival of the economic refugees in the form of small business owners and retirees.

I mean, the incoming governor's only major accomplishment is being a news anchor whose claim to fame was his girlfriend getting shot? His campaign pretty much ignored the economy?

Jeez, with qualifications like that, in a few years, we'll have as many Virginians here as we do retired New York government workers that fled south due to the high taxes and cost of living in their state.
