What are some problems with reddit you never want to have on voat? submitted by AtheistComic to AskVoat

iv 0 points 12 points (+12|-0) ago

I hope we never have to deal with elitist snobby types of people here. A notable example of reddit doing that was through the food subreddits: unless you took the picture on a special fancy camera and unless you used organic, grass-fed food that was cooked through a cast iron skillet or a stoneware crock pot, then you need not bother posting. Even if you spent all day with tried your absolute best to make something, you would always get criticized by their food snobs.

There was a post a while back on reddit of a guy who won what I think was $100 worth of groceries and the guy bought things that he probably would never buy on a regular basis, sure it was unhealthy and probably a waste, but the guy was probably treating himself and his family. The comments flooded in about how he wasted $100 and how wrong he was to buy said products because he could have bought so much more.

Also, I hope that we don't see power tripping moderators. CreepyPMs is a huge offender of this as the community used to be driven by user submitted content and allowed users to discuss the submitted content. After a few additions to the moderation team, I think that's when it really started to go down; users who said that the post wasn't creepy got banned with no warning for victim shaming and creep defending, obvious jokes will get removed or banned unless there is a sarcasm tag at the end of the sentence. Bans in general are freely handed out for breaking rules that you might not be aware of without warning. If you want to get unbanned, I think they demand you type out an essay on why you deserve to browse and post to their community in which case they reduce the permanent ban to a temporary ban as if you're supposed to be grateful.

I went on a bit of a rant there, but that subreddit in my opinion is the prime example of moderation going wrong and putting its users on trial with censoring comments and power tripping moderators.

Why do people dislike you? Do you deserve it? submitted by ZenZenWakarimasen to AskVoat

I've had people say that I'm too honest/too blunt, which causes some problems. Sometimes people just want to hear what they want to hear, not what they need to. I've lost a few friends because of it.

What are some healthy meals to take to work? submitted by iv to EatHealthy

It was a general question for the subverse, not for myself. It was to give ideas to other people. That's the aim of the subverse that I created.

To add: in a health subverse, there's no stupid questions, if someone wants to improve their life but doesn't know how, then you point them in the right direction. You don't insult people wanting to better their lives.

I don't have many rules in the subverse and I won't remove your comment because free speech and all that, but check what subverse you're in before you make a comment.
