The Amygdala Is NOT the Brain's Fear Center submitted by mountain_chamois to science

That is highly misleading

** It is responsible for detecting and responding to threats**, and only contributes to feelings of fear indirectly.

That is a pretty central role in fear. I also didn't see any citations to support this finding within that article.

Disclaimer: I'm a researcher in psychology, but not neuroscience. I'm also only a PhD student. However, I do have a background in neuroscience and I teach a related course. This doesn't make me right and him wrong, but I would like to see more substantial evidence than this opinion piece.

Steam Adds Refunds, But Early Access Remains a Breeding Ground for Fraud | motdmedia.com submitted by keiter to games

Early Access can be done very well (e.g., Prison Architect and Kerbal Space Program), but the whole notion of Early Access is to allow people to play an unfinished game. As a result, there are going to be issues even when not accounting for re-badging Unity assets. Hopefully Steam or even Unity will crack down on the fraudulent behavior and Early Access can get back to being what it was supposed to be.

Philae comet lander wakes up - BBC News submitted by rikkian to news

This is fantastic news. The amount of data that they (hopefully) should be receiving in the near future will greatly enhance our understanding of non-planetary bodies.

Hopefully we can rejuvenate this subverse. What do you folks think about the current QB situation? I'm a huge VT homer so I'm very pro-Tyrod, but the other two guys looked pretty solid in the first preseason game.

This article explains the process pretty well, in that outlines the mediating role of the amygdala in the fear response.

It even had Tim Tebow! Really though, it was for the most part a good game to watch.
