The Age to Vote Should be Raised Back to 21 submitted by CN8300 to politics

haijak 3 points 20 points (+23|-3) ago

Honestly I would have a hard time arguing against it being lowered to 16 or even 15.

Everyone has an interest in how their government works (whether or not they know it). As long as they pay attention enough to want to vote, I would argue they should be able to vote.

'Free' Windows 10 Has 3 Massive Unanswered Questions submitted by Jourdy288 to technology

Early adopters (me) have been using it for about 9 months already. I'm installing the 10240 insiders preview build now. That's the final RTM build. I can tell you it's very nice. This had been the smoothest Windows development cycle I've seen.

The points brought up in the article are still true. But none of them are software issues. They are all concerns about licensing and service things that will be a year or more away.

Rule change proposal: No linking to news aggregation sites like yahoo and msn. You must find the source. submitted by Meogi to Worldnews

While I can agree with the desire to improve the links posted. I think it would a bad idea to get into the habit of removing posted links just because they go to the wrong site.

Better I think, would be to have the mods make a sticky comment (is that possible) that has the source link, an archive link, and one sentence explanation of why the comment is there.

Universal Basic Income discussed on the No Agenda Show, they think it's a genius idea. submitted by NotAnUndercoverCop to BasicIncome

haijak 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

Of course we should, because it would help make everyone else more productive as well.

If we don't, those who won't or can't work are effectively missing from the economy. they don't produce anything. they don't consume anything. They have no purpose in the economy.

If they are instead given a basic income, they would create an additional consumer. That in turn would mean higher demand for certain products and thusly higher employment, and a better economy.

It's frustrating when people make this comment.

This trailer showed nothing we wouldn't learn in the first episode, of a whole season. They introduced who was coming back, and gave a very basic idea what the beginning of the series would be. If you really think you can get the plot of the whole season packed into a 3 min trailer, you probably think you could pass the final exam after reading the course syllabus.

Would you notice if a person's eyes were fully dilated? submitted by GropeForLuna to AskVoat

haijak 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

I would and do!

I work with a wide verity of special needs kids. Many of them are on several medications, some of which have eye dilation as a side effect. Other times it can help predict when they are very agitated and potentially violent. So it's something you learn to look for, and pay attention to over time.

Out side of work? I don't know. It's not something I actively look for, but I still notice it on occasion. I have no idea how many times I don't notice.
