Ha! Bullshit. Sorry, this reads like every generic technology cynic. I've seen technology come and go since the 80's and it's obvious which ones are going to catch on and which are not. Not just based on the specs/results you get but who is investing in it, developing for it, etc.

The reaction to 3D TV was always "that's kinda cool, I guess". The reaction to VR with even the relatively bad DK1 was "OMG this is amazing I want to buy one right now!". Entire genres of games and themes we haven't seen in years are starting to come back in a big way because of the scale. The scale is right every time. Every single simulator (cars, planes, helicopters, trains, others) will be using this as it's better and cheaper than triple screens. There will certainly be some games that are not ideal for it (and that's fine).

Plus, the porn industry has already embraced it and I can tell you it's amazing even in the DK1. What the porn industry supports - sells, history has shown us.

When the rich want to fuck us all bipartisanship reigns.

Always be wary when you see a lack of debate on a huge issue with bi-partisan support. It usually means it's great for the rich and powerful and shit for everyone else.

It's more about being realistic. In these situations, you know that if you even look like you're doing the wrong thing you're going to be shot. This reality is totally separate from where we should be as a society, yes. But this is the reality. Multiple cops have you at gunpoint. You do everything very slowly, ask for confirmation, and do exactly what they tell you to. Are the cops in the wrong? Fucking of course they are. But if I were in this person's shoes and even if I knew I did nothing wrong, I'd be acting exactly as the cops ordered because I don't want to be shot.

We have a lot of things to fix regarding police interaction. However, none of them will be fixed between suspects and police in the field. They're fixed by voting citizens and passing laws/policy that change things.

So start developing it! You can use Unreal or Unity for super cheap if not free these days. Engine makers are vying for VR developer dollars and there's a price war on.

Get to developing instead of expecting others to do it for you! :)

If you've seen it since the 80's then how come you haven't noticed that VR goggles have been brought up multiple times?

I remember VR goggles in the 90s. They were fun but the graphics were horrible, they were massive, the screen tech simply didn't exist to get a good picture quality, 3D printing wasn't a thing, CPU/GPU power wasn't there, etc. Now, all those issues have been fixed, quite frankly.

I don't know where you're seeing this outside a few gaming forums.

I've read a lot of reviews of the Rift (and more recently the Vive) from non-gaming sources (like Forbes, Business Insider, etc) as well as a ton of reaction videos from non-gamers. There are thousands of them online. The evidence is undeniable, honestly.
